Sustainable Policies
At Luxurious Lanka, our success is intertwined with the well-being of our environment, communities, and culture.
We commit to sustainability management, practiced by communicating our mission statement to customers, partners, and suppliers. We maintain an accessible, written sustainability policy that outlines our strategy for managing the social, cultural, economic, and environmental impacts of our operations. We collaborate with organizations that share our commitment and ensure compliance with all national legislation, regulations, and codes of practice.
We commit to sustainable internal management by ensuring all employment contracts include labor conditions in line with national labor laws. We grant employees paid annual leave, sick leave, and maternity leave in accordance with Sri Lanka laws. We ensure compliance with the nationally accepted minimum age for employment and maintain a strict health and safety policy.
We practice zero-paper policies and reduce consumption by using e-brochures. Our Energy Reduction Policy focuses on minimizing energy use by upgrading to LED lighting and optimizing systems. We integrate hybrid vehicles into our fleet to reduce emissions. We actively reduce waste by fully embracing the 5 R principle: Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose, and Recycle. We also adopt the use of refillable water bottles and provide king coconuts as a natural, sustainable hydration option.
We prioritize the most sustainable transport options while considering price and comfort. We ensure our vehicle fleet is well maintained and fuel efficient, actively working to reduce our carbon footprint. We promote eco-friendly driving habits among our chauffeurs and prioritize partnerships with suppliers of hybrid and electric vehicles.
We aim to achieve a tourism supply chain that is fully sustainable. We prioritize accommodations that meet strict sustainability standards, focusing on water/energy efficiency and waste management. We collaborate with locally owned accommodations that employ local communities and source local food products. Top-selling accommodations must sign a sustainability addendum enforcing strict measures against child labor and bribery.
We value animal and community welfare extremely highly and aim for tours that only leave a minor footprint. We do not offer excursions that harm humans, animals, or natural resources. We avoid partnerships with companies that hold wildlife captive (unless legally regulated and sustainable) and promote excursions that directly involve and support local communities and biodiversity.
We focus on recruiting local talent and providing a fair, safe working environment. We pay our tour guides and chauffeurs a service fee equal to or above industry standards. We ensure our staff are trained on sustainability aspects and inform clients on how to protect flora, fauna, and cultural heritage during tours.
Customer welfare is paramount. Prior to booking, we ensure privacy and provide accurate destination information. During holidays, we inform consumers about natural surroundings, local culture, and sustainability aspects. We provide documented guidelines for sensitive excursions and keep a contact person permanently available for emergencies.
Our Sustainable Purchasing Policy aims to minimize environmental impact by prioritizing eco-friendly, energy-saving products and certified sustainable goods. We support locally owned suppliers and encourage reuse and bulk purchasing to reduce waste and emissions, striving to promote a circular economy.
