Day 2: Explore Negombo • Fish Market • Dutch Canal

Experience the colour and energy of Negombo Fish Market, then explore the town’s historic Dutch-influenced waterways and coastal surroundings. Return to your hotel with the rest of the day to relax

Day 3: Negombo to Anuradhapura • Uga Ulagalla

Travel north with your private chauffeur-guide to Anuradhapura and check in to Uga Ulagalla. Enjoy the peaceful surroundings of your retreat before discovering Sri Lanka’s ancient heartland the following day.

Day 4: Ancient Anuradhapura • Sacred City & Mihintale

Explore the sacred city of Anuradhapura, with its ancient stupas, monasteries and centuries of Buddhist heritage. Continue to Mihintale, one of Sri Lanka’s most important pilgrimage sites

Day 5: Anuradhapura to Sigiriya • Ritigala Forest Monastery • Water Garden Sigiriya

Journey towards Sigiriya, stopping to explore the atmospheric forest monastery of Ritigala along the way. Continue to Water Garden Sigiriya and settle in for three nights in the Cultural Triangle.

Day 6: Ancient Polonnaruwa • Elephant Safari in Minneriya, Kaudulla or Hurulu

Discover the ancient royal city of Polonnaruwa before heading out on a private jeep safari. Depending on current wildlife movements, your safari will be in Minneriya, Kaudulla or Hurulu Eco Park.

Day 7: Sigiriya Rock Fortress • Hiriwadunna Village Experience

Climb the magnificent Sigiriya Rock Fortress and explore one of Sri Lanka’s most celebrated UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Later, experience rural Sri Lankan life around Hiriwadunna village, surrounded by paddy fields and countryside.

Day 8: Sigiriya to Kandy • Dambulla Cave Temple • Matale

Travel south towards Kandy, visiting the remarkable Dambulla Cave Temple and passing through Matale along the way. Arrive in the hill capital and check in to Adigar’s Manor.

Travel south, visiting the Udawalawe Elephant Transit Home en route before continuing towards Yala. Check in to Wild Coast Tented Lodge, your second Relais & Châteaux stay, with a Yala safari planned as detailed in your itinerary.

Day 16: Yala National Park • Private 4x4 Wildlife Safari

Head into Yala National Park by private 4x4 jeep in search of elephants, leopards, sloth bears, birdlife and other wildlife. Return to Wild Coast Tented Lodge to relax after your safari experience.
